rpgm-decrypt
A downloadable tool for Windows and Linux
rpgm-decrypt is a small open-source command-line tool that decrypts and extracts
RPG Maker asset files across every engine:
• XP / VX / VX Ace — .rgssad / .rgss2a / .rgss3a archives
• MV / MZ — encrypted .rpgmvp / .png_ / .ogg_ / .m4a_ files and .pak archives
It finds the encryption key automatically, restores the original files, and leaves
non-asset/system files untouched.
Good for: translating your own games, backing up and recovering your own project
assets, and studying the formats.
Usage (one command):
rpgm-decrypt "path/to/game" "output/folder"
On Windows you can also drag a game folder onto decrypt.bat.
Single self-contained binary — no install, no dependencies. License: Apache-2.0.
